Ever experience upon entering a new year, and people around you starts asking you about your so-called "New Year Resolution"? Well, since my deduction is that you definitely did(being the slick metropolitian you're, having found your way here), so chances are, your answers are gonna be:
1) heavily depending on who's asking you that question, as you'll be figuring out the most appropriate answer to that question, the answers ranging from:
a) say, the one asking you is the butcher that sells you pork back in the wet market:
"well, of course I can't be hoping that the price of pork actually decreases with the way the price of everything else increases like crazy but sure as hell hoped that at the very least it maintains the current standard"
...or...
b) your immediate superior who can literally make or break you:
"in order to show my appreciation and deepest regards for my company in their efforts in grooming me to be the capable employee as I am now, I sincerely aspires to improve myself in every possible field and hopefully the company can give me more opportunity in doing so"...(kinda overly pretentious...)
or rather the second one...
2) quite simply put, you give it a serious thought, and just say it. But come on, if it's a really serious thought, I'll bet you can't just answer it in such a prompt response(there's far too many shortcomings to overcome and equally many targets to meet for the every people), that is unless, your resolution is to a problem so darn obviously big that you simply can't ignore and is indeed GOTTA be your A-List priority.
Well, being one of the surviving few self-proclaimed "Ever the naive" person on this hellhole called Earth, quite clearly I'll take the latter. I mean, in a rather blatantly manner, there are some obscenely major problems to deal with after all. Being approached with this question by three different individuals on the new year's eve, I answered, with the same old stiff tone, "I gotta learn how to hardened myself" which nevertheless managed to bewildered them and successfully shut the topic up. I've always been known as a so-called "hard" man, been through all the hard knocks over this twenty-six year journey downward spiral to hell, biting the bullet and rolling with the punches and all...but never have I found myself at such a fix as now... A deadly weakness has emerged and this single flaw to the system may very well be its doom. Something's gotta give. I guess, there's always scenarios where you'll find yourself in a weak-in-the-knee moment and the pathetic part is, you'll actually enjoy indulging in this particular weakness, perhaps in sheer joy upon discovery that you're human, after all... But still, that ain't no excuse to just let your weakness run rampant all over you...it gotta be contained. And contained , it shall be, in 2005.
On to the next much more important point. Indeed. Needless to say, the world at large has come to terms with one of the most major natural disaster ever as 150,000 lives(to date, much more are to be expected) has been lost to the horror of the earthquake and its associated tsunami that has hit 10 countries in the South & South-East Asia. No cynicism here, and none shall be spared. Quite literally, a real life "HELLHOLE" has emerged out of this chaos. At the bottom of this blog, you can find at the affiliates marquee column a banner for my forum, also known as HELLHOLE. Over there, news updates and information on humanitarian aids for this incident shall be posted around the clock. Not for shock value but rather for the sake of raising awareness, a counter for the death tolls are posted there too. There's only so little a crazed online freak running a little den called Hellhole can do...but as Kofi Annan put it, "This is an unprecedented global catastrophe and it requires an unprecedented global response," just imagine if only every little freak out there putting up 0.001 of their effort in helping out in whatever ways they can, what positive effect it would have on the 5 million victims out there...
By the by, happy new year...
(Darn...still don't get what so happy about the new year...Life still goes on, doesn't it?)
